Replace words across a whole text at once
Changing a product name, correcting a misspelled word, updating a date or swapping a placeholder in a template is tedious when you do it by hand, and easy to miss in one place. This tool finds every occurrence in your text and replaces it in one step, with options for exact case, whole words and advanced patterns.
How to find and replace
- Paste your text.
- Type the word or phrase to find and what to replace it with. Leave "Replace with" empty to delete every match.
- Choose options:
- Match case: "Shop" will not match "shop".
- Whole words only: "cat" will not match inside "category".
- Use regular expression: match patterns such as any number with
\d+.
- Check the number of replacements and copy the result.
Examples
| Goal | Find | Replace with | Options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rename a product | Model X | Model X Pro | Match case |
| Remove a word | very | (empty) | — |
| Change dates 24/10/2026 to 2026-10-24 | (\d{2})/(\d{2})/(\d{4}) | $3-$2-$1 | Regex |
| Fill a template | {name} | Asha | — |
| Remove all digits | \d | (empty) | Regex |
Using groups in regular expressions
With the regex option, parts of the pattern in brackets are "capture groups". In the replacement, $1 means the first group, $2 the second, and so on. This lets you rearrange text, as in the date example. To learn and test patterns in detail, use our Regex Tester.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a replacement?
Your original text stays in the top box. The result appears below, so nothing is lost until you click Use result as text.
Does whole-word matching work in Hindi?
Yes. Word boundaries are based on Unicode letters, so it works with Indian scripts and accented letters.
Why is a $ sign in my replacement not working?
Without the regex option, $ is treated as a normal character. With the regex option, write $$ for a literal dollar sign.
